Cookie Policy
This policy explains which cookies and similar technologies www.fireaswindows.com uses, why, and how you can control them. It sits alongside our Privacy Notice.
Our approach is simple: nothing that identifies a visitor is set or sent before you agree to it. The banner you saw when you first visited is how you agree or refuse, and the "Cookie settings" link in the footer is how you change your mind.
1. What cookies are
A cookie is a small file a website stores in your browser. It lets the site recognise your browser on a later request. Similar technologies (local storage) work in a comparable way; this policy covers both.
2. Cookies we use
Essential — always active, never used for tracking:
• `JSESSIONID` — keeps an administrator signed in. Set only in the management area, and only for staff accounts. Duration: session.
• `XSRF-TOKEN` — protects management-area forms against cross-site request forgery. Set only in the management area. Duration: session.
Functional — remembers a choice you made, never used for tracking:
• `dw_lang` — remembers the language you chose (set when you visit a language version of the site), so that the next time you open the home page we show that language instead of guessing. Duration: 12 months. It contains no identifier and is never shared with third parties.
Statistics — set only after you accept "Statistics":
• `uv_id` — a random identifier (a first-party cookie) used to count unique visitors and returning visits, so that our reports are not just page counts. Duration: 12 months. It contains no personal details, and it is never shared with third parties.
• `_ga` and `_gid` — set by Google Analytics 4, which we load only if you accept the "Statistics" category. They distinguish browsers so the reports can count visits and sources. Durations: up to 24 months and 24 hours respectively. Google receives your IP address and browser information under its own privacy policy.
We do not use advertising cookies, we do not do cross-site tracking for marketing, and no analytics script of any kind is loaded before you accept statistics.
If you accept and later withdraw, we stop sending to Google Analytics immediately and remove the cookie we control; the Google cookies already set can be deleted from your browser (or via the "Cookie settings" link).
3. Embedded content from other platforms
Some pages contain videos hosted on YouTube, Bilibili or Vimeo. These are loaded only after you click the play button (or if you have already accepted "Embedded content"). Before that click, no request leaves your browser to those platforms.
Once loaded, the platform may set its own cookies and receive your IP address and browser information, under its own privacy policy:
• YouTube (Google) — https://policies.google.com/privacy
• Bilibili — https://www.bilibili.com/blackboard/privacy-pc.html
• Vimeo — https://vimeo.com/privacy
You can also view those videos directly on the platform, in which case only that platform's terms apply.
4. Your choices
Through our banner and the "Cookie settings" link in the footer you can accept everything, accept only what is essential, or choose per category — and change your mind at any time.
If you refuse the statistics cookie, the site works exactly as before; we simply do not count your visits. If you have previously accepted it and then withdraw, we stop collecting immediately and clear the cookie from your browser.
You can also control cookies in your browser settings (most browsers let you block or delete them). Blocking the essential cookies will break the management area sign-in, but the public website does not depend on cookies at all.
5. What we do not do
We do not sell or share personal data with advertising networks. We do not profile visitors across other websites. We do not use cookies to build marketing audiences.
6. Changes and contact
We may update this policy; the "last updated" date above shows the current version. Questions about cookies or privacy can be sent to [email protected].
